Verizon voice mail outage

October 3rd

4:00pm

Verizon voice mail has been restored to service.

Some callers may experience connection problems as Verizon staff
work to resolve issues might periodically inhibit access.

Technical staff are actively monitoring the service.

2:30pm

The Verizon voice mail system has been inoperative since at
least 2:00pm.

Callers are experiencing busy signals or continuous ringing
instead of being directed to voice mail.

IT staff are working with Verizon to resolve the outage

9:00am

The Verizon voice mail system has been fully restored to service.

Because voice mail greetings were lost in the equipment failure, we recommend customers re-record their greeting.

October 2nd

Early Friday morning, September 28th, the Verizon voicemail system experienced a catastrophic equipment failure, crippling many UB voice mail boxes and phone menu systems.

VOIP users are not affected by this failure.

All voice mail messages recorded prior to the failure, greetings, and phone menu system directions were lost.

This severe, campus-wide problem is preventing callers from leaving voice mail messages and accessing phone menu systems.

Approximately 45 Verizon-serviced phone menu systems at UB are affected. IT staff are contacting managers to coordinate the restoration process.

Verizon voice mail has not yet been restored to full service. Callers still cannot consistently reach voice mail to leave messages. Mail box owners cannot consistently reach their own voice mail boxes.

We recommend waiting until Verizon has fully restored voice mail to re-record your voice mail greeting. The 'all clear' announcement will be announced on this webpage and via the UBIT Alert! service.
