UBmail
Spam quarantine service
The spam quarantine service uses PureMessage to examine incoming email messages using extensive rules to determine the likelihood of each message being spam.
Spam is quarantined, not delivered
Each message is assigned a numeric spam score in the message header. Messages rated:
- 50% - 98% likelihood of being spam are quarantined
- 99% or higher are discarded
Quarantined spam doesn't count against your quota
Quarantine spam is not delivered to your mailbox, so your email quota is unaffected. Instead, the spam is stored on another server for 14 days should you wish to retrieve it.
You can retrieve messages for limited time
Quarantined messages are stored, by default, for 14 days. You can retrieve messages and set the quarantine period if you'd like.
Spam is automatically deleted
Spam messages are automatically deleted at the end of the quarantine period. No action is required to delete messages in the spam quarantine.
Email aliases
Email aliases are expanded prior to quarantine. Mail is then quarantined by recipient.
@domain.buffalo.edu email addresses
The spam quarantine web interface is not available for addresses like user@domain.buffalo.edu.
