Before the move what should I do?
- Make notes about your email forwarding rules so you can re-create them.
- Make a copy of (export) your contact list so you can re-create it after the move.
- Save messages (including attachments) with a total size greater than 20 MB to local files.
What will happen to my email?
- Your forwarding will stop on your conversion date; your forwarding instructions will not be moved.
- Your email address @buffalo.edu stays the same.
- Your email messages will be moved to UBmail powered by Google.
- Your folder organization will be flattened into labels. If you have a folder in your Inbox called family and a folder in family called Parents (Inbox.family.Parents), then you will have a new label called Inbox/family/Parents.
- Messages containing executable code or whose total size (message + attachment) exceeds 20MB will not be moved.
- Your addressbook (contact list) will not be moved.
- Your filters will not be moved.
How will I get to my email?
Login to ubmail.buffalo.edu using your UBITName and password. You will be directed automatically to the correct email destination. (UBmail powered by Google can only be accessed with a web browser.)
On your conversion day, you can send and receive email at your UBmail powered by Google account. During the conversion, you will see your messages as they are moved.
