UBITName Deactivation

Why did I receive a deactivation notice?

You are working on an Incomplete

The amount of time you have to make-up an incomplete grade differs for undergraduate and graduate students.

Your UBITName will deactivate two weeks after the next drop/add period if you are no longer registered for courses and have not had a degree conferred. If you are making up an incomplete you are entitled to UBITName services.

In order for your UBITName to remain active, contact either:

  • The professor whose course you are completing or
  • an administrative staff member in the department of the course you are completing

That person must communicate the following to CIT:

  1. Your name
  2. That you are finishing an incomplete
  3. Your person number
  4. His/her contact information in case we need to follow up on the request

That person can send this information to us:

  • via email to cit-accounts@buffalo.edu from either their UBITName@acsu.buffalo.edu, or UBITName@buffalo.edu, or departmental email address or
  • FAX the information on departmental letterhead to (716) 645-3617

CIT will manually extended your UBITName for 6 months. If you need an extention beyond 6 months you must request a further extension at that time.

The email or FAX must come from the professor or departmental administrative staff member.

Deactivation notices are sent automatically when you are no longer affiliated with the University at Buffalo.

Confirming your affiliation

CIT does not determine affiliation. To confirm your affiliation status:

Changes made by the Student Response Center or Human Services take at least one day to be transmitted to CIT.

If you believe you received the notice in error and you can not find yourself in the list above, please contact the CIT Help Desk (645-3542).

When your UBITName is deactivated you will no longer be able to use your account.

The UBITName policy has a more detailed description of services and conditions.
