How long does it take to get a UBITName?
UBITNames are automatically created 24 hours after your information is recorded in the institutional database. Student applicant UBITNames are created after you apply to UB; faculty and staff UBITNames are created after your appointment paperwork has been processed.
You can check on the status of your UBITName on the online directory.
I can't come to the Help Desk to reset my password.
The CIT Help Desk will set your UBITName to an unclaimed state and provide you with a single-use password to claim your UBITName.
Email or fax your reset request to the CIT Help Desk at 716-645-3617. Your request must include:
- your name
- a copy of government-issued picture ID with name and date of birth
- a telephone number where you can be reached
Help Desk staff will contact you with your single-use password at the telephone number you provide.
What happens to my UBITName after I graduate?
Your UBITName will remain active for 6 months after your degree conferral date unless you accept the offer from the Alumni Association.
What happens to my UBITName over the summer?
If you were a registered student for the spring semester, your UBITName will remain active through the summer.
