Deactivation

You are adjunct faculty or have a part-time appointment

Your UBITName activation is tied directly to your appointment. Your account automatically deactivates when your when your appointment ends, even though you continue your association with the department.

You can request an extension through your department

CIT can extend your UBITName account in anticipation of a pending appointment. The 60-day extension is usually adequate to cover paperwork processing.

Contact an administrative staff member in your department. The administrative staff member must communicate the following to CIT:

  1. Your name
  2. Confirmation of intent to hire you as an instructor
  3. Your UBITName

The extension request must come from a departmental administrative staff member.

Why did I get a deactivation notice?

Deactivation notices are sent automatically when you are no longer affiliated with the University at Buffalo.

Confirming your affiliation

CIT does not determine your affiliation with the University. To confirm your affiliation:

Changes made by the Student Response Center or Human Services take at least one day to be transmitted to CIT.

If you believe you received the notice in error, please contact the CIT Help Desk (645-3542).

When your UBITName is deactivated you will no longer be able to use your account.
