Access UBfs
WebDAV on Mac OS
By creating a WebDAV share that links to UBfs, files stored on UBfs can be edited and managed.
The Mac Finder presents a WebDAV share as an external disk and allows you to interact with WebDAV just like you would any other filesystem.
Requirements
Your Mac must be running OS 10.4 or higher. Authentication to UBfs is done with your UBITName and password or a departmental account (ITorg account) and password.
Creating a web folder
Create a web folder that links you to the top of the UBfs filesystem:
- From the Finder, select Go, then Connect to Server.
- In the Server address field, enter https://ubfs-mac.buffalo.edu/ubfs. Click Connect.
- You are now connected. Enter ad\UBITName and password, then click OK. If you are connecting with a departmental account, then enter itorg\MyITorg and your password with MyITOrg is your departmental account name.
- A folder listing will be displayed. Click on folders to navigate to your destination.
Connect to specific UBfs directories
A web folder can also link to any particular directory; multiple folders can be created.
To link to Myfiles, create a web folder for:
https://ubfs-mac.buffalo.edu/ubfs/myfiles/j/d/jdoewhere j is the first letter of your UBITName, d is the second letter of your UBITName, and your UBITName is jdoe.
To link to Collaboration (collab) space, create a web folder for:
https://ubfs-mac.buffalo.edu/ubfs/collab
UBfs file transactions
Add, delete and edit files on UBfs using the WebDAV share.
Manage permissions of files on UBfs
Browse to https://ubfs-mac.buffalo.edu and login with your UBITName and password to modify permissions of files and directories.
