UB File Service (UBfs)
Accessing UBfs from Windows XP
- If you are connecting using UBWireless or an ISP from home, you must use UBVPN.
- If you have not changed your UBITName password since November 2003, you must change it to access Myfiles in UBfs.
- If you are in an area where you cannot map a drive to UBfs, such as in ResNet, create web folders using WebDAV for Windows XP or for Windows Vista.
- Workstations in public labs have drives mapped for UBfs.
Map to a drive to Myfiles on UBfs
- From My Computer, choose Map Network Drive from the Tools menu.
- Use the drive letter pre-selected or choose an unmapped drive letter.
- Enter the UBfs folder:
\\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\myfiles\1st_letter_ubitname\2nd_letter_ubitname\UBITName
or specifically, your Myfiles folder.
If your UBITName is jdoe enter:
\\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\myfiles\j\d\jdoe\
When prompted for a username, prefix your UBITName with ad\. For instance:
ad\jdoe
Map a drive to Collab space on UBfs
Using the directions above for Myfiles space, map another drive to
\\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\collab
