Windows 7
UB does not recommend that students or faculty move to Windows 7 until applications on which they depend have Windows 7 compatible versions. Upgrading mid-semester could be disruptive. Please continue to visit this web page to read about important steps to take before upgrading, the potential challenges of upgrading, the current status of software compatibility testing of Windows 7 with core UB applications, and other useful information about Windows 7.
Windows 7 Ultimate (32 and 64 bit editions) will be available to eligible UB students, faculty, and staff for their personally owned computers at UBMicro. UBMicro will also accept orders online.
UBIT Node and IT Service Area directors should contact UBMicro to obtain Windows 7 installation media for institutional owned computers.
Will your current computer and software work?
Before purchasing Windows 7, we recommend you first visit Microsoft's Windows Compatibility center to download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and to search by software name for compatibility with Windows 7.
