Compatibility with prior editions of Office

All installations of Office 2007 in the central facilities will save in the Office 2003 format through Fall 2008 by default. Starting Spring 2009, the central facilities will change to save in the Office 2007 format by default in preparation for phasing out Office 2003 after the end of the Spring 2009 semester.

The Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack gives older versions of Office the ability to open, edit, and save Office 2007 documents.

Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Edition suite is licensed to all students paying the technology fee, faculty, and staff at the University at Buffalo. Faculty and staff are licensed to install Microsoft Office software on university and personally owned computers for academic or work-related purposes. Faculty and Staff must be employed by the state, UB Foundation, Research Foundation, Faculty Student Association, or have Geographic Full Time Faculty status.
