Symantec AntiVirus protects email, instant messages, and other files by automatically removing viruses, worms, and Trojan horses.

VISTA UPDATE

There is a patch available for Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 for Windows Vista (64 bit edition). This patch fixes a bug which did not allow Symantec AntiVirus to perform a scan in Safe Mode.

Vista Upgrade warning

If you are planning to upgrade an existing Windows installation to any version of Vista, you must un-install all Symantec products prior to starting the upgrade.

After the upgrade, install Symantec AntiVirus for Vista.

Symantec Client Security is not yet available for Vista: we recommend you use Symantec AntiVirus and the Vista firewall.

License Agreement

This software can not be downloaded and stored in a shared file space.

Symantec AntiVirus is licensed to all students paying the technology fee, faculty, and staff at the University at Buffalo. Faculty and staff are licensed to install Symantec AntiVirus software on university and personally owned computers for academic or work-related purposes. Faculty and Staff must be employed by the state, UB Foundation, Research Foundation, Faculty Student Association, the Practice Plans, or have Geographic Full Time Faculty status.

Important Notes

  • Do not install Symantec AntiVirus if you have installed Symantec Client Security.
  • You must remove other ant-ivirus programs before installing Symantec AntiVirus.
