OpenPort
On-campus connections for laptops!
OpenPort is an open access, on-campus network. It provides Internet access to laptop and handheld users. The OpenPort network includes network jacks in the Cybraries and University Libraries. An active UBIT account is required to use this service.
Using OpenPort
To use OpenPort, you need the following:
- A 10/100 Ethernet adapter suitable for your computer
- A category 5 Ethernet cable
- UBITName and password
All computers used on OpenPort require a working Ethernet adapter, which should be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. If your Ethernet adapter is not already installed and you do not feel comfortable installing it, or if you encounter problems during installation, contact UBMicro, UB Commons Suite 109, at (716) 645-3554.
You must configure your laptop for OpenPort before you can connect.
