Lesson 5: MyUB is Your UB
|
MyUB is the main access point to University services, resources and personal information. It acts as the student gateway to all the important links within the university community and features a user-friendly index along the left-hand side of the screen.
The Academics/Course page will connect you to course schedules, online registration and your grades, just to name a few. The UBmail feature allows students to access their UB email from anywhere in the world. Through the Need to Know Channel students have access to important current announcements, deadlines, services, and changes at UB. The Search feature allows students to look up contact information for any person or department in the UB community.
UBlearns is the hub of the University’s online learning. UBlearns is where faculty post course documents and presentations, use discussion boards or post links to web sites, and even use UBlearns to give assignments and tests. UBlearns is also capable of delivering video, audio, images and includes chat and email features. UBlearns is a web service based on “Blackboard” software, a web based course management and delivery application. Instructors decide on a course by course basis whether or not to utilize this online tool, but each semester more and more faculty are using UBlearns to enhance their courses and expect students to access their materials on a daily basis. Courses that are available are not necessarily alike. Instructors plan and organize their UBlearns materials based on their course’s content and faculty needs. |
