Configuring Your Email Program

If you are connecting from an off-campus internet service provider you have several options for sending email.

UB Central Email server settings

Our email servers are as follows:

• Incoming (IMAP) server: imap.buffalo.edu
• Incoming (POP) server: pop.buffalo.edu
• Outgoing (SMTP) server: smtp.buffalo.edu

If you would like to use UB's online directory from within your email client, enter the following where appropriate:

• Online Directory (LDAP) server: ldap.buffalo.edu
• Search Base/Root: o=University at Buffalo,c=us

Secure Central Email server settings

• Incoming (IMAP)
  • server: imap.buffalo.edu
  • port: 993
  • client setting: SSL (starttls is not currently supported)
• Outgoing (SMTP)
  Two options are available for secure smtp
  • server: smtp.buffalo.edu
  • port: 25
  • client setting: TLS plain text authentication
    or
    
• server: smtp.buffalo.edu
• port: 465
• client setting: SSL
