Internet Access at UB
We offer Internet access to all UB students, faculty, and staff. Offices and dorm rooms throughout the campus are wired with connections to the campus network. Off-campus customers may connect through dial-up or VPN.
On-Campus Access
Most faculty and staff members have Ethernet connections from their offices on campus. If yours doesn't, see the IT Node Coordinators page for the computing contact for your node. On campus access is available from the Public Computing Sites, from the dorms (ResNet) and from OpenPort and wireless in the Libraries.

Connecting from Out of Town
You may wish to investigate different calling plans with your long distance carrier if you regularly access UB from outside Erie and Niagara county. Alternately, any Internet Service Provider (ISP) will allow you to connect to your UBITName account or Wings from their system. If you do use an ISP, you must register with our Remote Access Facility before you can access your UBITName account from your ISP.
